The second picture is based on the Grimm Fairy Tale, "The Girl Without Hands", the story goes that the 'devil' gave wealth to an impoverished miller and tricked him into agreeing to give his daughter in return. The only way to save them both was to chop off her hands. A rather gruesome fairy tale, here's the story

And..yes that is 'Bo Peep'..she looked so long and hard for her sheep that she went blind. All part of my 'dark fairy tale' paintings.

Very neat, thought provoking pictures. Why does the woman have no arms in the second picture? And is that Little Bo Peep in the last one?
