Taking A Long Week-End

I don't know what I'm going to do
this week-end...other than that the kids will be
over on Sunday...
but I know that I am taking a long week-end.

My shipping is 100% caught up.
I've got new canvas on it's way.

The gal who owned the local gallery where we
showed our paintings locally, is the person who
commissioned the painting I'm still working on...
it would have been done yesterday...but
she notified me that she was going out
of town till next week...so I decided
to wait to finish it.

Other than that, I don't really have a lot going
on at the moment...
well I do..but nothing that is overly pressing.

I'm thinking it might be a good time
to start working on some designs for
licensing.

It's Been a 'Busy' Week

I finally got all my shipping caught up...
working on some new pieces for the shop
including
1000 Markets and Artfire.

In the meantime, I'm also trying
to get some products designed
for Zazzle

... while working on a commission painting
which is similar to a piece that I
had in a local gallery almost a year ago.

How nice that the buyer remembered my
painting, tracked down the gallery owner
(who had to close the gallery because of the economy)
and asked specifically for that piece.
Luckily the gallery owner had kept everything she
had in the gallery on disc...so she was able
to verify which piece the buyer was talking about.

Custom Paintings

I did this quick little 'photoshop sketch'
of a custom painting that I
should have completed later today...I hope.

It's based on
Edgar Allan Poe's
"Cask of Amontillado"

This painting is one I'm doing in oils...
it's coming along..though I wished it were more
complete since I started it last month.
It's been so darned 'wet'
with all the snow and now the rain..
that the painting is taking sooo long to dry
between layers.

But..they're coming along...and that's a good thing.

I've Been 'Away'

So...you know...

I've been having some major

computer and connectivity issues

over the past few months.

Well...when both of these issues

hit me at the same time...

YIKES!!

I felt very isolated!!

I started having connectivity issues on the 12th...

then....my computer pretty much 'petered out' on the 15th!
So...here I am...working on Jaime's old computer
(the space bar doesn't like to work)
but...at least the computer is in working condition.
I kept getting the 'blue screen'
then having to start in 'safe mode'
....
long story short
....
I think my poor computer is ready to
'Rest in Peace'.
I need to get the rest of my pictures off of it...
put it in it's bag
and
store it in my closet.
I have so many pictures on it...
that I hate to just toss it out!
But...
on the 'plus' side..
I did manage to get my
commission painting done and a few new pieces painted.

Working on a commission painting.

This week I'll be rather
'scarce'...
I need to finish the
'creepy Snow White'
piece I'm working on...
I'm determined to get it out by the
week-end.

That means I'll be
'internet absent'.

I'm not sure if I'll take on
any new commission pieces until after
the first of the year.
With the holidays coming...the shows...
and
hopefully
a busier season online...
I may not have time.

Coming Soon

We are almost done with a new batch
of
'wearable art' pendants.
We're doing most of them for this next
week-end's show...
but,
I plan to list a few
in my shop...

I'll be listing those
later this week...or early next week.

Also...on the way...I've finally ordered
a new batch of
pocket mirrors.
I ordered half of the mirrors
for the show
and the other half...
for the shop.
Those will be listed,
hopefully,
by the week-end.

The shop listings
depend on how far behind
I am at getting
everything ready for the show...
not to mention
the commission painting I'm
working on at the same time.

So sorry...I failed to mention WHAT show
we will be doing this week-end...
It's the
"Seasons of Crafts"
at the
Lancaster Event Center.

If you click directly onto the
show...you can get a map if you need one.

Sweeney and Jack

The "Sweeney and Jack" commission piece
is finished.
I have painted the edges and varnished
the painting.
Now I have just to wire it...wrap it...and get it shipped.

I'm waiting for my box order...
dratted...I thought I had the right sized boxes...
and I didn't!

I'll be happy to get this piece to the collector....

I haven't resized the other pics....but I'll probably
post them later tonight or tomorrow.

Special "requests"..

There is a good reason I don't take too many
"special requests"...
for one thing..
I become a real b**** until the 'request' is finally
completed...
for another...
I will NEVER EVER get the 'request' to the point
that I am 100% completely happy with it...
so..to save myself a little stress...
I usually don't take on these 'requests'.

I'm not sure why in the world
I agreed..
not only to take on a "special request"
but to take on one that is
24" x 48"...
that's another thing I NEVER do...
work on canvas that is almost as tall as me!

But...I agreed...and I am
thankfully
almost done with it!

Of course...I could keep the painting forever
and never be completely satisfied with it...
that's my nature...
but, I have determined that TODAY is the
day
I will be finished with
"Sweeney and Jack".

I photoshopped my 'idea' before I started painting...
see the pic above...
now with a few 'tweaks'
I am ready to edge and varnish
and get it in the mail.

Then...I have another piece...
just an 11 x 14...
(which will seem like nothing
compared to the 24 x 48)
and I'll have all my
"special requests"
completed and out of here.
