Our dark art website.

I have had a website, that I've shared with
a couple of my children, for over four
years and in that time,
we have never really been happy with
the site or it's design.
I know there are many hosting sites that have
'easy to use' templates...and make it look sooo easy
to set up a professional looking site in just 'minutes'.
Oh...I don't think so.
On these sites, I am always unhappy with
the template choices...or userability...or something.
The same with the site I'm using.
So...I decided, if I'm going to continue to pay $14.00 a month
for a site...
I'm going to use it!
It's taken me 3 days --- I'm not kidding ---3 days
to get 3 pages redone.
(I kept having problems and having to start from scratch.)
But, I'm much happier with these pages than
I was with the originals.
Now that I've got these three pages
completed and operational,
I'll work on one or two pages every week...
until the site is completely done
and fully functional.

Migrating from CMZ Art.

For those who have followed both of my Etsy Shops, you will see, some pieces migrating from my CMZ Art Etsy Shop into my Rustic Goth Etsy Shop...even though, they don't really 'fit the shop theme'.

Problem is...I LOVE these pieces and just can't bear to 'let them go' while I search for a new home for them.

Since my Rustic Goth shop is almost entirely, character based, I needed to find a home for a few of my CMZ Art character pieces, at least temporarily.

'Sophie and the Baby Seal' and 'Maybelline's Ferret' have already been moved and I'll be moving a few more, at some point this week.

While they are 'visiting' Rustic Goth, I plan to continue to search for more permanent homes for these 'orphaned' pieces.
In the meantime, for anyone who wondered what might have happened, to these sweet little pieces, you can find them at Rustic Goth.

The Orphan Art Act

I hadn't heard anything about the 'orphan art act' until recently. I guess I've been living under a rock for some time. I am only JUST now hearing about this bill and I am 'simply put', quite upset by this 'travesty'.

Here's a video...if you've been 'living under a rock' too...for more information.

And, a link to where you can find more information.

Orphan Works Opposition Headquarters.

If you create for a living...or even just for fun...don't stay silent on this one. I mean...what the hell!!! What's the point of creating if someone can just take what you've created and do whatever the hell they want to with it????

I can't believe I hadn't heard about this before now!! If you haven't heard either...spread the word...hopefully it's not too late!

I have a couple new "dark art paintings" listed

And...as to "what I've been up to"....
well..I've been making some
MAJOR decisions on what I will
be doing with my art, from this point on.
For now...my Rustic Goth shop will
remain intact...although I will be making
a few changes in the coming weeks.
I will post those updates when they occur.

Art and the Economy

“Hundreds of years from now we will not remember our corporations of today or even prominent politicians.” says, MIT Prof. Nicholas Negroponte’s point during his keynote at RISD.

Instead we will be remembered for the great art that our society will leave for future generations. It follows that great art is a great loooooooong-term investment. So if you’re going to invest, think about investing in art. (Please reference an article about 'Art and the Economy' written by John Maeda .)

I didn't say any of the above but, I did give the author credit and include a link to the article he wrote in reference to 'art and the economy'.

Normally I am not so 'serious minded' but, today I had to make a decision...'which shop stayed open and which shop closed.' Wow..that was tough...I have a strong affection and, what I considered, a valid reason for both!

Economically though...well you can't pay the bills...if you don't make the sales! Recently, I haven't been able to do either....I guess we're called 'starving artists' for a reason.

Anyway...after much agonizing I decided...I would keep my Rustic Goth Etsy Shop open and close my CMZ Art Shop! I had already decided to close the 'Pendants Plus' shop...just because it was becoming 'impossible' to keep up with three shops.

I am cautiously optimistic though. We'll just have to see how things turn out!

The painting I showed in this post is one I painted in 2007 titled, "Mystic Blessings"....I thought it somehow appropriate!

A New Year...

You might not be able to tell
by looking at my
but I have been busy.
I had a wonderful Holiday Season,
celebrating Christmas and welcoming
the New Year,
with my family.
And...in between the visiting and the celebrating...
I have actually been pretty busy.
and I've been working hard to keep it.
I've got a few new pieces
in the works that I hope to
have in the Shop
sometime this week-end.
I'm working on putting a lot of new
items in my
by month's end.
I'm pretty excited about everything
that I currently have going..
I'll be even more excited
when I am able to get
everything finished and posted.
I'll post previews, as I get them finished.
Now..I need to get busy and get some
new Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
ready to post.
